The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts has offered free admission for 90 years and its eight galleries are filled with a diverse collection of paintings, sculpture, and decorative art. Set in beautiful, historic City Park, the museum has a rich permanent collection with strengths in American art (including iconic works by Thomas Moran and Norman Rockwell), world cultures, and European art. Temporary exhibitions feature both regional and international art and artists, bringing the world to Hagerstown and also celebrating the local cultural community. Described as a “hidden gem, “ a “cultural treat” and one of the finest small museums in the country, the Museum is a must-visit on any trip to the area.

Hidden jewel of western Maryland. Love the art scavenger hunt. The building is very cool. Go? Why not. On leaving, stop by the water and feed the massive and teaming carp. A fun time had by all.
