Walter Reed National Military Medical Center

The Walter Reed Army Medical Center is a part the Walter Reed Health Care System that serves more than 150,000 soldiers, other service members, family members and retirees in Washington, D.C. The medical center has various clinical departments, including a 3-D medical applications center, managed care division, neurology, psychiatry, radiology, pharmacy, dental clinic and army substance abuse program. Its radiology department offers a wide range of services, including mammography, ultrasounds, magnetic resource imaging, breast implant evaluation, biopsy, artery screening, virtual colonoscopy, interventional radiology and neuroradiology. The medical center s family assistance center assists families, next of kin and patients who have been evacuated to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. It also has a medical library that contains more than 20,000 books and bound journal volumes, microfilm archives, over 450 journals in print and access to nearly 1,700 titles electronically.
