Vivian Altiery De Jesus, MD

Dr. Laura Sterni is an associate professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include pediatric pulmonary medicine and sleep disorders. She is director of the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Sleep Center.Dr. Sterni has edited a book on chronic home ventilation in children - Caring for Ventilator Dependent Child: A Clinical Guide. (Sterni. LM and Carroll JL (Eds). Humana Press/Springer Science and Business Media, New York, 2016.)Dr. Sterni received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She also completed her residency in pediatrics and her fellowship in pediatric pulmonary medicine at Johns Hopkins.De. Sterni was recognized by Baltimore magazine as a Top Doctor in pediatric pulmonology in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017. She was also recognized in 2016 and 2017 as a Top Doc for the treatment of pediatric sleep disorders.

Dr. Slidell is an associate professor of surgery at The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Slidell is the Associate Chief of Health Services Research and Clinical Integration in the Division of General Pediatric Surgery at Johns Hopkins Children's Center. His clinical practice spans the full breadth of general pediatric surgery, and he is recognized nationally for his expertise in hepatobiliary diseases, foregut surgery, chest wall deformities, and pediatric trauma. Dr. Slidell also has expertise in perioperative quality and safety, programmatic growth, and system alignment. His health services research focuses on improving clinical outcomes and addressing health disparities in pediatric surgery, particularly regarding pediatric trauma care. Dr. Slidell is the author of dozens of peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, and he is the editor of a surgical textbook entitled, Difficult Decisions in Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Slidell is a dedicated educator and mentor passionate about training the next generation of physicians, surgeons, and scientists. He is the Associate Program Director for the pediatric surgery fellowship training program at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, and he has received numerous teaching awards throughout his academic career. Dr. Slidell grew up in Maryland and attended medical school at Brown University, followed by a general surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital. He obtained an M.P.H. at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Slidell was recruited to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center after spending 10 years on the Comer Children’s Hospital faculty at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Belina Yi is a pediatric rheumatologist at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases that cause inflammation in the bones, muscles, joints and internal organs. These diseases include juvenile dermatomyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, vasculitis, scleroderma and more. Dr. Yi received her undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis. She received her medical degree at Touro University California before completing pediatric residency at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She then went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. With a focus on providing individualized and evidence-based medical care, Dr. Yi is passionate about advocating for patients and families, collaborating among medical specialists and conducting clinical research that can help improve patients’ lives.
