During the War of 1812, the farm house was used as a lookout to observe the approaching British Fleet. Following the Battle of North Point in September 1814, the British burned the house in retaliation. The Todd Farmhouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973

Battle Acre

Battle Acre was dedicated in 1839 to commemorate those who fought in the Battle of North Point on September 12, 1814. In 1914, one hundred years after the battle, the National Star Spangled Banner Commission erected a monument topped with a memorial cannon, honoring those who fought in the battle.
