Talbots Special Riders
Positive Strides, formerly known as Talbot Special Riders, is a nonprofit organization that has been providing therapeutic equine programs to individuals with various needs in the Eastern Shore community since 1981. Through their CATCH Riders program, they offer support to at-risk youth and adults recovering from family violence and sexual abuse, while also catering to individuals with conditions such as autism, addiction recovery, PTSD, cerebral palsy, dementia, and depression. By harnessing the power of equine therapy, Positive Strides aims to boost confidence, self-esteem, and optimism in their riders, helping them lead fulfilling lives.
Founded over 40 years ago by a group of passionate individuals, Positive Strides has expanded its services to serve adults and children in Caroline, Dorchester, Queen Anne's, and Talbot counties. Their dedication to creating a pathway to healing for vulnerable individuals remains unwavering, as they rely on the generosity of donors, corporate sponsors, and volunteers to continue their impactful work. Through their therapeutic riding sessions and the interaction with horses, Positive Strides strives to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
