Shruti Paranjape, M.D.

Dr. Heather Noelle Di Carlo is an associate professor of urology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She treats all pediatric urological disorders in young males and females while specializing in renal sparing surgery and complex reconstruction of the genitourinary tract in patients with the exstrophy-epispadias complex, disorders of sexual development (DSD) and other congenital anomalies. She serves as the Director of Pediatric Urology Research and is the interim Division Director of Pediatric Urology. A native of New York, Dr. Di Carlo graduated from Emory University with a B.S. in neuroscience and music, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. Following general surgery and urology residency training at Stony Brook Medical Center, she completed a pediatric urology fellowship at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute. Dr. Di Carlo has special clinical and basic science interests in the exstrophy-epispadias complex, spina bifida and renal transplantation.

Dr. Jeffrey John Fadrowski is an associate professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include pediatric kidney transplant and pediatric nephrology. Dr. Fadrowski provides care for children with kidney problems of any type, from microscopic hematuria patients to kidney transplant recipients.Dr. Fadrowski graduated valedictorian from Utica College of Syracuse University with a B.S. in biology/chemistry. He received his medical degree with honors from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. Dr. Fadrowski completed a residency and year as chief resident in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins, after which he completed a fellowship in pediatric nephrology, also at Johns Hopkins. As part of this training, he received a master’s degree in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Fadrowski joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2005. He is the recipient of a Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award by the National Institutes of Health and spends the majority of his time performing clinical research in the area of chronic kidney disease in children. His specific research interests include the role of heavy metals, such as lead and cadmium, in the progression of chronic kidney disease, anemia in chronic kidney disease, and patient outcomes related to the various types of vascular access used for hemodialysis in children.Dr. Fadrowski is a member of several professional organizations, including the Active American Society of Nephrology and the Active Renal Physicians Association.

Alejandro Garcia, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Johns Hopkins and the Vice-Chair of Inclusive Excellence in the Department of Surgery. He serves as Co-Director of the Pediatric Surgical Colorectal Program, Assistant Program Director of General Surgery, and Surgical Director of the ECMO Program, which provides lifesaving support for infants and children with critical illnesses or injuries. Dr. Garcia specializes in surgery for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, surgical oncology, pectus excavatum repair, minimally invasive lung resections, foregut surgery, and robotic surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed his general surgery residency at Columbia University Medical Center, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Additionally, he completed an ECMO fellowship and conducted pediatric cancer research at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian. Dr. Garcia is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, American Pediatric Surgical Association, American Academy of Pediatrics, Society of University Surgeons, Latino Surgical Society, and the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization. His research focuses on brain injury in ECMO patients, minimally invasive colorectal surgery, congenital diaphragmatic hernias, outcomes research, inflammatory bowel disease, and chest wall deformities.
