The Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department (SSVFD) has been serving the Sandy Spring and Olney communities since 1924, providing essential fire and emergency services. With a dedicated team of volunteers, SSVFD offers 24/7 assistance, responding to approximately 6,100 calls for service annually and providing nearly 35,000 standby hours. Their commitment to the community is evident through their extensive history, featured members, and fallen heroes, showcasing their dedication to keeping the community safe.
With two response stations, Station 4 and Station 40, SSVFD covers a wide area including Sandy Spring, Ashton, Brinklow, Ednor Norwood, Olney, Brookeville, and portions of Norbeck. Their fleet of apparatus, including Aerial Tower 740, Tanker 704, Brush 740, and Chief 704, ensures they are well-equipped to handle any emergency. SSVFD also offers opportunities for individuals from all backgrounds and experience levels to become members and support their mission.
