The first land purchases for what is now Rocks State Park began in 1951. Originally slated to be Deer Creek State Park, these were the first land purchases made by the State of Maryland for the express purpose of creating a park.

We love this park! We enjoyed 2 hours of shady hiking with a beautiful view of the king/queen seat once we got to the top! The trails are nice and wide and the temperature was at least 10 degrees...

The trails are not long. However, you have many to choose from. Easily marked. Great picnic areas .Arrive early in order to get parking we had to wait about half an hour to find parking.
