Anne Arundel County Public Schools serves more that 74,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12. It operates over 70 elementary, approximately 20 middle and more than 10 high schools. The district also operates charter schools and applied technology and special education centers. Anne Arundel County Public Schools offers an academic curriculum that includes various subjects, such as English, math, science and social studies. Calvert County Public Schools, based in Prince Frederick, Md., operates elementary, middle and high schools. A prekindergarten program is offered in several schools. The middle schools are organized to aid pupils in their transition from childhood to adolescence. Basic skills programs are continued with advanced programs, including French, Spanish and algebra. The senior schools offer vocational-technical courses, advanced placement, foreign language and special needs. In addition, they offer a Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp and a foreign exchange program. The elementary and middle schools have computer-assisted instruction laboratories. The computer-assisted program affords each pupil an opportunity to work in the laboratory on either reading or mathematics or both. High school computer laboratories are used for programming and applications instruction.

Charles County Public Schools offers various educational programs for elementary, middle and high school students to provide an opportunity for all school-aged children to receive an academically challenging education that builds character, equips for leadership and prepares for life. It offers an online program of studies that includes system and state information regarding graduation requirements, guidance procedures, grading, academic award programs, college and career planning, and optional programs.
