About Us GBC History For more than five decades the Greater Baltimore Committee, the region's premier organization of business and civic leaders, has focused the resources of its broad membership on the key issues relating to business climate and quality of life in the Greater Baltimore region. The GBC was organized on January 5, 1955 as an action committee designed to mobilize the commercial, industrial and professional leadership of Baltimore to bring about tangible and rapid improvements in the community. GBC Mission The mission of the Greater Baltimore Committee is to improve the business climate of the Greater Baltimore region by organizing its corporate and civic leadership to develop solutions to the problems that affect the region's competitiveness and viability. Successful regions are characterized by healthy and viable core areas, while regions with declining core areas do not perform as well.

Success for All Foundation, established in 1988, provides research-based reading programs and bilingual instruction materials for students in grades kindergarten through eight. It has partnerships with more than 1,200 schools and organizations throughout the United States, and provides a variety of programs, such as reading intervention, phonics, family literacy, English language development, vocabulary and comprehension, and Spanish and mathematics. The foundation offers special school reform models to teachers and professors that assist in curriculum development. It also provides training modules on personality development and communication skills enhancement. Success for All Foundation is located in Towson, Md.
