Northfield Elementary School

Northfield Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It is one of the first schools in the country to be recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. The school offers a phonics-based reading program that gives instruction in reading comprehension, phonics, writing, spelling and grammar. The school has a staff that includes an administrative assistant, counselor, nurse, instructional specialist, technologist and speech therapists. In addition, Northfield Elementary School operates a counseling department that serves as a resource for students, parents and its staff, and provides consultation, individual and group counseling, developmental lessons and coordination services. The school operates a parent-teacher association that works in partnership with the school s principal and staff, as well as the community to provide programs and services that enhance the educational environment for all its students. Northfield Elementary School is a part of Howard County Public School System.
