Dr. Nina Nami is an instructor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Ie-Ming Shih is the Richard TeLinde Distinguished Professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Shih directs the inter-departmental TeLinde Gynecologic Disease Program and co-directs the Women‘s Malignancy Program at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He is the Principal Investigator of the NIH Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) of Ovarian Cancer focusing on concept-driven clinical trials and early detection of the disease. Dr. Shih's research has been continuously supported by National Institute of Health.Dr. Shih received his M.D. from Taipei Medical University and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Shih went on completing a clinical fellowship in gynecologic pathology and a research fellowship in cancer genetics at Johns Hopkins before joining the faculty in 2001.The scientific contributions from his team include 1) molecular characterization of different types of ovarian cancer, 2) elucidation of the origin and evolution trajectory of ovarian precancerous lesions, 3) the discovery of cancer- promoting genes that are amenable for targeting, 4) the etiology of endometriosis and 5) the pathogenesis of gestational trophoblastic neoplasm. Dr. Shih has published more than 360 original publications and book chapters related to basic and translational cancer research, especially in the study of gynecological malignancies. He has received the 2017 Most Influential Research Paper Award in gynecologic diseases by the Columbia Hospital Foundation, and several research awards from the Tina’s Wish Bozeman Foundation, Gray Foundation, and the Endometriosis Foundation of America to support and recognize his research works.He sits in several advisory/editorial boards such as the World Health Organization (WHO) Nomenclature Committee for Gynecologic Neoplasms and the NCI Ovarian Task Force of Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee. Besides his clinical, research and teaching obligations, Dr. Shih is a passionate photographer.

Katarzyna J. Macura, MD

Dr. Katarzyna J. Macura is a professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine department of radiology and radiological science, a professor of oncology and urology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and a member of the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and the Johns Hopkins Precision Medicine Center of Excellence for Prostate Cancer. She is a radiologist consultant for the Prostate Cancer Multidisciplinary Clinic at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Dr. Macura established a clinical and research prostate imaging program with a focus on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Dr. Macura has expertise in cross-sectional body imaging, MRI and prostate cancer, and image-guided biopsies. Dr. Macura earned her medical degree from the Medical University of Lodz in Poland. She completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at the Medical College of Georgia and a fellowship in cross-sectional body imaging at Johns Hopkins University. Prior to arrival at Hopkins in 2000, Dr. Macura completed post-doctoral research in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. With a PhD degree in Medical Informatics, she had pioneered early applications of Artificial Intelligence for medical decision support, a domain that is now rapidly expanding owing to the advancement of computer technologies and recent recognition that decision support augments appropriate utilization of medical technologies, provides second opinion systems for improved diagnostics and management, and allows optimization of medical care delivery with the assessment of quality and safety. Dr. Macura is a certified knowledge engineer. Dr. Macura is a member of several national and international radiology organizations. She served as president of the Maryland Radiological Society, the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Radiology (ACR), between 2013 and 2015, as well as president of the American Association for Women in Radiology (AAWR) in 2005. She was a Chancellor on the ACR Board of Chancellors, serving as the Inaugural Chair of the ACR Commission for Women and Diversity, between 2013 and 2019. She served as Vice-President of the ACR 2019-2020. She was named the Outstanding Teacher of the Year by Hopkins Radiology Residents in 2005 and 2021, and received the Resident Mentoring Awards in 2018 and 2024. Dr. Macura was also named the Honored Educator by the Radiological Society of North America in 2012 and 2014. In 2016, she received the "Diamond" Jim Brady Urology Residents teaching award and the AAWR Marie Sklodowska-Curie award. In 2022, she received the Gold Medal from the American College of Radiology. Dr. Macura is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR), the Society for Advanced Body Imaging (FSABI), and the American Association for Women in Radiology (FAAWR).
