Dr. Kelvin K. Hong is an Associate Professor and Executive Vice Chair of Radiology within the Johns Hopkins Department of Radiology.A specialist in interventional and vascular radiology, Dr. Hong serves as the Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Interventional Radiology Center.Dr. Hong earned his medical degree from South Africa’s University Of Witwatersrand Medical School in Parktown. He completed a radiology residency at Parktown West’s College of Medicine/Radiology, as well as a cardiovascular/interventional radiology fellowship and diagnostic radiology residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.His areas of clinical expertise include bone, liver and soft-tissue tumors; chronic total occlusions; claudication; deep venous thrombosis; lung, esophageal and kidney cancer; peripheral arterial/vascular disease; renal artery/vascular disease; uterine fibroid tumors; varicocele; and vascular malformations and venous thromboembolism.Dr. Hong performs procedures that include radiofrequency ablation for lung, liver, kidney and bone lesions; transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for liver cancer; lower-extremity angioplasty and stenting; visceral angioplasty and stenting; embolization of uterine fibroid tumors; cryoablation for pain control; and percutaneous laser ablation of varicose veins.Dr. Hong served as editor for the book Percutaneous Tumor Ablation and contributed to Interventional Oncology: Principles and Practice.

Paul M. Hassoun, M.D., is professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the director of the pulmonary hypertension program at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He received his medical degree from the Faculté de Médecine Lariboisière-Saint Louis at the University of Paris, France, completed an internship and residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, both at Harvard Medical School. He was on faculty in the pulmonary division at New England Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine (Tufts-NEMC) in Boston, MA, until 2002 when he joined the division of pulmonary and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins University.Dr. Hassoun has served or currently serves on numerous American Thoracic Society (ATS) assemblies and committees, including the Pulmonary Circulation Long Range Planning Committee, the Pulmonary Circulation Program Committee (for which he served as chair for 2008-2009), the ATS Scientific Advisory Council, Pulmonary Circulation Leadership Committee, and the American College of Chest Physicians Vascular Steering Committee. He served as the ATS Pulmonary Circulation chair (2011-2012) and on the ATS Publications Policy Committee. He was recently elected president of the Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute (PVRI; 2018-2019).Dr. Hassoun has held numerous editorial activities including serving on the editorial board of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Medicine (2010 to present), CHEST (2006-2015) and the European Respiratory Review (2008-2015). He currently serves as associate editor of the European Respiratory Journal (2013-present) and has served as associate editor for the Journal of Clinical Investigation (2017-2022).

Dr. Jeffrey Rothstein focuses on neuromuscular diseases, with a particular focus on Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Other clinical areas relevant to his laboratory-based research include idiopathic stupor, epilepsy, and motor neuron degeneration. His laboratory includes more than 25 post-doctoral fellows, neurology residents, neuromuscular fellows, junior faculty, undergraduate students, technicians, and ALS clinic staff. He has been the principal and/or local investigator in more than 20 national or international trials in ALS. He is the author of more than 360 articles on basic and clinical neuroscience. Dr. Rothstein's laboratory research is funded through the National Institutes of Health, the Dept of Defense, Target ALS, Maryland TEDCO, Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the ALS Association, and Answer ALS. Dr. Jeffrey Rothstein received a masters degree in neurochemistry from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in physiology and biophysics from the University of Illinois Health Sciences Center. He then obtained his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He went on to complete an internship at the University of North Carolina Memorial Hospital before joining The Johns Hopkins for his residency. While at Johns Hopkins, he became chief resident in neurology and completed his fellowship in neuromuscular disease. He has been Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins for more than 25 years.
