Dr. Meghan Bernier is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine and Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She attends in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and serves as the Medical Director of the unit. In this role, she works with various multidisciplinary teams within the PICU and the Johns Hopkins Children's Center to ensure high-quality and safe care for all patients.Dr. Bernier enjoys providing care to patients with a broad spectrum of critical and life threatening illness while paying special attention to including families in their child’s illness and recovery.Dr. Bernier received her undergraduate degree from The University of Virginia and earned her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital with an additional post-doctoral year of basic science research training in the laboratory of Dr. Lewis Romer.

There, he was also a member of the Sleep Center, the Vision Center and the Institute for Neuroscience.Dr. Gottschalk serves on the editorial boards of several journals, including The Scientific World Journal and World Journal of Anesthesiology. He was recognized by Johns Hopkins with a Service Excellence Award in 2011. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
