The Ewing Oil Company was founded October 1, 1965 by Caleb C. Ewing, Sr. The company started primarily as a small heating oil company, with some commercial fuel sales. In 1972 Ewing acquired Smith Oil Company, a small Exxon branded heating oil company, with one company-operated gas station. In succeeding years Ewing Oil significantly expanded retail and wholesale gasoline operations, acquiring several smaller companies and purchasing numerous retail locations.
