Margaret Moon, MD, MPH

Dr. Jill A. Fahrner is an assistant professor in the Departments of Genetic Medicine and Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her area of clinical expertise is medical genetics. Dr. Fahrner earned her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and her M.D. from the University of North Carolina. She completed pediatrics residency training at Duke University Medical Center. She joined the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine as a genetic medicine resident in 2009 and completed her training in 2012. She stayed on as chief resident from 2012-2013 and then joined the faculty as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics within the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine in 2013. Her current primary appointment is Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetic Medicine, where she is Director of the multidisciplinary Epigenetics and Chromatin Clinic.She is a physician-scientist with a long-standing interest in epigenetic mechanisms of disease. Her clinical focus is on caring for individuals with epigenetic and chromatin disorders, specifically Mendelian disorders of the epigenetic machinery, or chromatin modifying disorders. She has seen hundreds of individuals with congenital disorders involving disrupted epigenetics, most of which exhibit neurodevelopmental disabilities and abnormal growth. Her laboratory research is focused on understanding disease mechanisms and developing therapies for select Mendelian disorders of the epigenetic machinery.She is a member of the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG), having won an ASHG Reviewer’s Choice Abstract Award for her work on growth retardation in Kabuki syndrome 1. She has received a Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Clinician Scientist Award, a Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Musculoskeletal Pilot and Feasibility Award, a William and Ella Owens Medical Research Foundation Award, the Margaret Ellen Nielsen Fellowship Award, and the Alice and YT Chen Travel Award while at Johns Hopkins. She is the recipient of a prestigious Hartwell Foundation Individual Biomedical Research Award and also has ongoing research funding from the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Cozumel S. Pruette is an associate professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She provides care for children with kidney problems of any type, from microscopic hematuria to kidney transplant recipients. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in biology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Pruette earned a master's degree in neuroscience from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She earned her medical degree with Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois, and completed her internship and residency at Johns Hopkins University, where she was a chief resident. Dr. Pruette went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at Johns Hopkins in 2012. As part of her fellowship training, she received a master's degree in clinical epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Pruette’s research is focused on improving self-management, patient engagement, transition of care and medication adherence in patients with chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease. She leads the pediatric/young adult transition of care program for the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Transplant Center. Dr. Pruette is the principal investigator in the development and implementation of a peer-mentoring program for adolescents with kidney transplant. She has established national patient and family advisory councils for the North American Pediatric Renal Trials and Collaborative Studies (NAPRTCS) and for the Chronic Kidney Disease in Children (CKiD) Study. She has been the recipient of numerous research grants, including the KL2 Clinical Research Scholars Award, as well as the Pearl M. Stetler Research Fund Award, multiple awards from the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland, and the NIH NIDDK.

Dr. Arik Marcell is a tenured professor of pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His areas of clinical expertise include adolescent medicine, male reproductive health and pediatrics. Dr. Marcell holds a joint appointment in the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He earned his M.D. from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and his M.P.H. from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Marcell has led updates to the nation's Title X guidelines on men’s health for clinical preventive service recommendations on family planning and sexual and reproductive health. He directs the Title X program at the Harriet Lane Clinic and recently received funding from the Office of Family Planning to integrate rapid HIV testing in the clinic. Dr. Marcell is faculty sponsor for the Bloomberg School of Public Health’s certificate in adolescent health. His teaching excellence has been recognized from the Bloomberg School of Public Health for his course on Masculinity, Sexual Behavior, and Health- one of the only men's health-focused courses being taught in the nation in a public health school.
