History
I was trained at Rutgers University, where I received my Doctorate, as well completing fellowships at both Harvard University Medical Center, Department of Pschiatry, and the University of Wisconsin Medical Center, Madison, Department of Psychiatry. I was a tenured member of the faculty at the George Washington University Medical Center. I am currently in a joint practice in Bethesda, Maryland, the Cognitive Therapy of Greater Washington (www.cognitivetherapyctr.com).
Specialties
I have been practicing Clinical Psychology for 40 years and am Board Certified in my specialty. I was educated at Rutgers Univ, Harvard Univ and the Univ of Wisc. I treat adults, adolescents, families, couples and children. I apply cognitive and behavioral approaches to the treatment of depression, anxiety (including obsessive-compulsive, post traumatic stress and generalized anxiety disorders), family (including parenting) and marital (including premarital) problems. I use cognitive behavioral interventions and Mindfulness for the treatment of interpersonal problems, personality disorders, sexual dysfunction and chronic pain. I also treat habit control problems including substance abuse, diet, cigarette, alcohol and sexual disorders. As a generalist yet specializing in the application of cognitive behavior therapy, I regard myself as an instructor in adaptive living and the pursuit of the goals of maximizing happinesss and more effective living.
