Scott D. Lifchez is the interim director of the Johns Hopkins Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery and orthopaedic surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the director of hand surgery service, and the section chief of plastic surgery at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He specializes in surgical treatments for injuries and chronic conditions of the hands and fingers. Dr. Lifchez received his medical training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago in 1999. Dr. Akila Viswanathan is a prominent figure at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, serving as the Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology and Molecular Radiation Sciences, as well as a Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Julie A. Caffrey, D.O., is an associate professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She specializes in the treatment of burn wounds, including reconstructive burn surgery and the surgical management of complex wound and burn deformities. A native of Bowie, Maryland, she is currently researching the infection control measures in the burn center, sleep hygiene and reduction of opioid dependence post burn injury. Dr. Caffrey earned an undergraduate degree in biology at Salisbury University, followed by a master's in biomedical sciences and a doctor of osteopathic medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a residency in general surgery at both Peninsula Hospital Center in Far Rockaway, New York, and Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Flushing, New York.Dr. Caffrey is a member of the American Burn Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Women Surgeons.
