We performed that service so well, however, that it immediately attracted attention. Our first big project was the calligraphy addressing of the special invitations for President Clinton's inauguration ceremony. Since that time, we've developed a reputation for delivering the highest level of service in the mail industry - and, according to our clients, our envelopes bring about the best results. In 1999, Shari sold The Elegant Envelope to her stepson, Jud Ashman, who has served as President and general manager ever since. In 2009, Jud moved the business from the Dupont/West End Washington, D.C. neighborhood where it had been located since 1992, to the great city of Gaithersburg, where there was better parking and more space for the office.
