Established in 1978, Independent Dialysis Foundation is an independent, nonprofit center that is affiliated with the University of Maryland and specializes in providing dialysis services. The center operates more than five health care facilities throughout Maryland. Its Chestnut Square Dialysis Center focuses on providing self care, staff-assisted and home training for patients suffering from hemodialysis. Independent Dialysis Foundation also maintains the Calvert Center in Prince Frederick, Md., which offers acute dialysis services. The center is affiliated with the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis and the American Society of Nephrology. Independent Dialysis Foundation maintains several health care centers in Baltimore.
