Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks provides a wide range of recreational activities to residents of Columbia, Md. Its community services division provides leisure programs in the areas of arts, cooking, crafts, dance, therapeutic services, special events, culture and heritage, trips and tours, self-development and swimming. The department s Recreational Licensed Childcare program focuses on developing a child's social, cognitive, emotional and motor skills through age-appropriate activities that follow recommendations established by the Maryland Model for School Readiness. It also organizes classes in drawing and painting, music and photography. Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks provides financial assistance to qualified residents.
