Horn Point Laboratory

Horn Point Laboratory is an environmental research facility of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. It provides advanced-environmental research and graduate studies. The laboratory offers research on the biology, chemistry, physics, and ecology of organisms and ecosystems. Its areas of scientific expertise include oceanography, plankton dynamics, systems ecology, and marine macrophyte and wetland ecology. It offers research on nutrient dynamics and eutrophication, physiological ecology of benthic invertebrates, benthic-pelagic interactions, and aquaculture. The laboratory offers various graduate and undergraduate education programs. Its facilities include mesocosms, seawater systems, and oyster and fish hatchery. It provides analytical, information and electronic services. In addition, it provides library, and safety and radiation services. It has a machine shop that manufactures, modifies and repairs scientific equipment used in the laboratory. The laboratory offers equipment used for enhancing presentations and documenting projects. Horn Point Laboratory is a member of the Southern Association of Marine Laboratories and the National Association of Marine Laboratories. It is located in Cambridge, Md.
