Friday Emergency Appointments Only, Saturday during Tax Season 10am-5pm The Harper Advisory Group moved to Columbia, Maryland in 1973, becoming one of the first local accounting and tax firms. Our founder, Liz Harper, was featured in articles published in the Columbia Flyer and Howard County Times. She was an exception to an otherwise male dominated world of business owners. With a lifelong interest in the impact of dynamic tax reduction, Liz Harper brought a new focus to small business accounting. The point was not just the accounting books; the ultimate focus was on expanding benefits while reducing taxes. From concept and incorporation to custom designed benefit packages, the Harper Advisory Group offered national small businesses a turnkey approach to business development and expansion. Initially specializing in the home building industry and the performing arts, along with a rewarding individual tax practice, the Harper Advisory Group provided a full service accounting and consulting resource to small businesses located in Maryland, D.C., Northern Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania. In 1979, we expanded our areas of expertise to include the Healthcare industry and Government Contracting. Now, over 38 years later, we are proud to count over 188 small businesses as clients and over 733 individuals as tax clients. In 1996, Harper Advisory Group became a government contractor on the IRS Partnership Form 1065 electronic filing test book. When the other contractors were unable to make their parts of the project functional, IRS called upon Harper to audit and review that work and fix the problems.
