Ryan Felling, MD
Dr. Felling is the director of the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Stroke Program and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of children with a wide range of cerebrovascular disorders. With combined training in child neurology and vascular neurology he offers expertise in both the acute diagnosis and treatment of stroke as well as longitudinal management of the neurological consequences of stroke in children.Dr. Felling earned both his M.D. and his Ph.D. in neuroscience at Penn State College of Medicine. He completed residency training in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He also completed residency training in pediatric neurology and a fellowship in vascular neurology at Johns Hopkins.Dr. Felling's goal is to improve the clinical care of patients through the development of efficient pathways for the rapid evaluation and treatment of children presenting with stroke. He is part of a multidisciplinary team of providers that care for children with cerebrovascular disorders. Clinical research efforts are aimed at improving neurological function in children following stroke and other brain injuries.
Sara Keller, MD
Dr. Sara Keller graduated from the Duke University School of Medicine in 2007. She completed her Master of Public Health in epidemiology in 2006 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then completed a residency in Internal Medicine in the Osler Medical Residency Training Program at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2010, a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012, and a fellowship in the University of Pennsylvania Centers for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety in 2013. She also completed a Master of Science in Health Policy at the University of Pennsylvania in 2013. She is an Assistant Professor in Infectious Diseases where she primarily sees patients at Johns Hopkins Green Spring Station and also attends on the inpatient infectious disease consult service at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She serves as the Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Service.
Elham Afghani, MD
Dr. Elham Afghani is an assistant professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She joins us from Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She received her medical degree from University of California, Irvine. She completed her internal medicine residency as well as an extra year as chief resident at the University of California, Irvine, Medical Center. She then completed her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship with additional training in pancreatic diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.With a unique specialization in pancreatic disease, she has participated in numerous research projects at the Cedars Sinai division of pancreatico-biliary diseases and was involved in a U01 Consortium for the study of chronic pancreatitis, diabetes and pancreatic cancer.Dr. Afghani’s areas of expertise include acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency. She is an accomplished researcher with multiple publications in prestigious peer-reviewed journals as well as presentations at national meetings.
