Ed K. Kasper, MD

Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Czarny attended the University of Wisconsin where he majored in molecular biology. After medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he completed an internal medicine residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston followed by cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and structural heart disease fellowships at Johns Hopkins. Currently, he is a faculty member in interventional cardiology and performs heart catheterizations and coronary artery stenting for patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD) and myocardial infarctions ("heart attacks") at both the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He is also a member of the Structural Heart Disease team and performs minimally invasive, catheter-based treatments for structural heart disease at the Johns Hopkins Hospital including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for aortic valve stenosis, valve repair/replacement procedures for mitral valve regurgitation and stenosis, patent foramen ovale closure, atrial septal defect closure, alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and left atrial appendage occlusion with the Watchman(TM) device. He sees patients in his structural heart disease clinics at both the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.Dr. Czarny's research interests include the safety of cardiac stenting at hospitals without cardiac surgery backup and outcomes of catheter-based structural heart procedures.

Dr. Sarah Kelley focuses on treating children with epilepsy with an emphasis on those who continue to have seizures after trying multiple medications. Dr. Kelley is the director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit where she oversees the evaluation and management of children with difficult to control or difficult to diagnose epilepsy. She evaluates and manages patients who may be candidates for epilepsy surgery. Dr. Kelley has additional expertise in the treatment of children with electrical status epilepticus of sleep (ESES). Dr. Kelley is also very involved with teaching and education and in addition to attending in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit is one of the Attending Physicians on the Pediatric Neurology Inpatient Service.Dr. Kelley received her medical degree from SUNY at Buffalo Medical School in New York. She then went on to complete her pediatrics residency training followed by her Child Neurology training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She then completed her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology/pediatric epilepsy at Johns Hopkins.Dr. Kelley sees patients with seizures/epilepsy on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center. Telemedicine visits with Dr. Kelley are available in some circumstances.

Dr. Lee Hunter Riley III is a professor of orthopaedic surgery and neurological surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He serves as vice director of clinical operations in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in surgical treatments for spinal disorders and injuries.Dr. Riley received his M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1986. Following a residency in orthopaedic surgery and a fellowship in spinal surgery at Johns Hopkins, he completed a second fellowship in spinal surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1993.In addition to clinical interests in the cervical spine and adult spinal disorders, his research interests include disc degeneration, metastatic disease, vertebroplasty and cervical spine disorder.Dr. Riley has authored or co-authored over 100 scholarly publications.
