Dr. Cornelia Trimble is a professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. She has joint appointments in the Departments of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Oncology, and Pathology.Dr. Trimble completed her residency in anatomic pathology at Cornell University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in gynecologic pathology and a residency in gynecology and obstetrics at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Her clinical interest and expertise is in developing new ways to intercept cancers — treating pre-invasive, cancer precursor lesions — caused by HPV.Her work has focused on two nonsurgical strategies: (1) immunotherapy via therapeutic HPV vaccination, and (2) repurposing artesunate, a plant-derived compound used to treat malaria, as a topical treatment administered by the patient herself to treat high-grade, intraepithelial HPV lesions. Her work has shown proof-of-principle, that it is indeed possible to eliminate HPV pre-cancers without surgery, and has been recognized internationally.Dr. Trimble has dedicated herself to delivering cutting-edge care to girls and women who have a very common problem, caused by a very common virus, HPV. Victoria L. Handa, MD

Dr. Victoria Handa is the director of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She is also a professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics and director of the Women’s Center for Pelvic Health and Reconstructive Surgery. She holds a joint appointment in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her areas of clinical expertise include pelvic floor disorders and female incontinence. Dr. Handa offers surgical and nonsurgical treatments for pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence and related conditions.Dr. Handa earned her undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Princeton University. She earned her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco. She completed a fellowship in urogynecology at the University of California, Irvine, and later earned a Master of Health Science in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Handa joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2001.Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Dr. Handa was chief of the Division of Gynecology and director of urogynecology at the University of California, Davis.Dedicated to scientific research, Dr. Handa has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and several book chapters on pelvic floor disorders and urogynecology. Her research is supported by several National Institutes of Health grants and has led to many scientific findings and a 2011 award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.Dr. Handa is a member of several scientific societies, including the American Urogynecologic Society and the International Urogynecology Association. She currently serves on the editorial board of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. Jaishri Blakeley, MD

Dr. Jaishri Blakeley is the Marjorie Bloomberg Tiven Professor of Neurofibromatosis in Neurology, Oncology, and Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, director of the Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Center and director of the Neurofibromatosis Therapeutic Acceleration Program (NTAP). She is an active clinician-scientist specializing in the care of people with NF1, NF2, LZTR1, SMARC1 schwannomatoses, and primary brain tumors. Her research expertise in the development of clinical trials for nervous system tumors and specifically, early clinical-translational studies including tumor pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic investigations, imaging biomarkers for rare nervous system tumors, and incorporation of patient-focused, functional endpoints into efficacy studies. She has been the national or international leader of 7 clinical trials focused on therapies for glioblastoma, NF1 and NF2. In 2012 she cofounded the NTAP to dramatically shift the landscape of NF1 via necessary, efficient, and expert discovery, translational and clinical research. NTAP focuses on therapeutics, fosters collaboration, facilitates open and timely sharing of results, and streamlines the research process to accelerate therapies for plexiform and cutaneous neurofibromas. Through NTAP, Dr. Blakeley has supported and collaborated with more than 80 laboratories and research teams across the globe enabling meaningful therapeutic development for NF1-associated neoplasms and supporting the development of an exceptional community of clinician scientists focused on NF1 via the Francis S. Collins Scholars Program in Neurofibromatosis Clinical and Translational Research. Her research and programmatic efforts are all in the service of improving outcomes for the patients with NF1, NF2, schwannomatosis, and primary brain cancer for whom she is honored to provide care.
