Preserved in 1998 by the State of Maryland's Program Open Space (POS), Chapman State Park stretches from the Potomac River to Mattawoman Creek, in western Charles County. The park is a dramatic reminder of the great woodlands that once cradled the Potomac tidewater region.

It has a beautifully view of the Potomac and you can even access the water from the beach. It is also pet friendly. I do think it is necessary to highlight how there is limited parking, no trash...

Great walk with kids, kind of interesting area, and all of the trails are extremely easy. This is basically an old plantation/farm that is used as a wedding venue and has a historic home on site....
