History

The 200 acres of waterfront was called Bare Neck and was utilized by Native Americans. In 1600's it became farmland for sheep. In 1921 Charles C. Glover built and named Bayfields. A DC park was named for him when he formed several national parks in the area. Later, it was a summer retreat for nuns. Finally in 1945, the house and 15 acres became a full-time residence for the Heintz family, who always welcomed visiting guests. In winter of 2011, there was a large house fire that took 14 months to rebuild. In spring of 2012, Bayfields offered up its first guest room to visitors on Airbnb. Bayfields is still a family home, but is shared with regular visitors from both near and from far. The 4th and 5th generations of Heintz's still currently live here full time. Bayfields has hosted more than a dozen wedding ceremonies and receptions, but as of 2017, will no longer be booking any future weddings. BEAUTIFIL VEIW! Right on the river. Handi-capped friendly. Nice but lived in so you feel comfortable. No central air! Fans and river breeze, so it stays cooler but no air is no air.

A beautiful place to wake up in the morning and run down to the beach to fish and crab. After lunch, go for a dip in the pool or a ride on a kayak.
