The Baltimore County Fire Department provides fire protection, emergency medical aid and emergency rescue to the residents of Baltimore County, Md. Baltimore County s population is nearly 800,000 residents. The department has more than 1,000 paid, trained emergency response personnel housed at 25 career fire stations. These professional responders work at fire and rescue scenes along with volunteer firefighters from the county s 30-plus volunteer fire stations. Fire engines carry trained emergency medical technicians or paramedics to a medical call if the engine is closer than a medic unit or ambulance. The Fire Department s records division provides incident reports and makes request forms available online. The Baltimore County Fire Department offers classes on car seat installation and performs occasional seat checks. Ambulance calls or medic unit visits are provided without charge to residents. The chief s office is in Towson, Md.
