Camping is available only in the Maryland district of Assateague Island. Campers are reminded to bring firewood, sunscreen, insect repellent, screen tents for shade and insect protection, and long tent stakes to anchor tents in the sand and wind.

You CANNOT take your dog on the VA side of here, only on the MD side. The VA side had a sign stating that there were no dogs allowed and they weren't even allowed in your car as you approached...

The island has beautiful pristine beaches with wild horses. The $25 fee for vehicle admission into the island's national park may seem high yet is worth it. Active duty military gets free passes....
