The purpose of the PTA is to support the mission and objectives of Sequoyah Elementary School in Derwood, Maryland. The many parent, teacher, and staff members of our PTA contribute their time and talents to enrich the Sequoyah Community and, above all, provide a positive environment in which our children can develop into productive citizens.Every new school year brings new families to the Sequoyah community. For those families that are new to the area, moving brings many new joys but also many new stressors. Joining the PTA and becoming part of the school community can help to provide families with a support system and new friendships. Sequoyah is not just a school ; it is a community of family and staff that promotes respect, communication, and acceptance.

Scotchtown Hills Elementary is an educational institution that serves students in prekindergarten through grade six. Its staff includes several teachers, instructional assistants, paraprofessionals, substitutes, counselors, specialists and office personnel. The school s academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as math, science, social studies and language arts. The school conducts a variety of extracurricular programs in visual arts, instrumental music, and health and physical education. It also offers programs in media and computer technology. In addition, the school provides medical care, speech therapy, and guidance and counseling services. Scotchtown Hills Elementary has a parent-teacher association that supports and sponsors various school events and activities. It is located in Laurel, Md.
