As chief of infection control for the Wilmer Eye Institute, Dr. Kuo worked with the occupational health, virology and hospital epidemiology and infection control departments to develop a policy to quickly diagnose employees who have a highly contagious and damaging form of viral conjunctivitis ("pink eye") so they can be sent home and not infect patients and other employees.
