Smith Bridge Preserve
Smith Bridge Preserve, located in Oxford, Maine, encompasses 494 acres of diverse forestland, including 185 acres of wetlands and four miles of frontage along the Little Androscoggin River. Acquired in October 2021, it is the first of three parcels from the former Chadbourne Tree Farm to be conserved by the Western Foothills Land Trust, focusing on the health of the forest and wildlife rather than timber revenue.
The preserve features five miles of trails primarily consisting of former logging roads, allowing for a variety of recreational activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, horseback riding, and nature observation. Additionally, recognized snowmobile trails maintained by the Rocko Dundee Snowmobile Club traverse the property, enhancing its accessibility for outdoor enthusiasts.
