The Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the rich history of Lincoln County, Maine. Founded in 1954, LCHA is responsible for the stewardship of three historic buildings: the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, the 1811 Old Jail in Wiscasset, and the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta. These museums house a diverse collection of artifacts, including textiles, furniture, photographs, and manuscripts, that help tell the stories of Lincoln County's past.

With the help of knowledgeable docents, LCHA brings history to life by sharing real human stories of law and order, crimes and punishments, and the lives of residents as the towns of Lincoln County developed into thriving communities. The Pownalborough Court House, in particular, has welcomed notable visitors such as John Adams, Benedict Arnold, and Robert Treat Paine, and has been featured in Pulitzer Prize-winning literature. LCHA works tirelessly to preserve these historic treasures and relies on the support of the community through memberships, donations, and grants to continue their important work.
