Portland Health & Human Service

The Health and Human Services Department operates under the government of the city of Portland, Maine, which also operates city clerk, fire, finance, parking, police, public works, and planning and development departments. The Health and Human Services Department operates a social services division that provides a variety of programs for low-income residents. This division supports a transitional housing project that is funded by the Department of Housing & Urban Development. The social services division provides case management services for families. In addition, the Health and Human Services Department maintains a public health division that supports a family health services program to provide services for women, children and families in a variety of settings, including homes, schools and community agencies. The department supports a program for adults that includes daytime care and support services.
