Located in Bangor, Maine, the Paul Bunyan Statue is a towering tribute to the city's connection to the lumber industry and the legendary American character, Paul Bunyan. Standing at 31 feet tall and weighing 3,700 pounds, the statue is reputed to be the largest of its kind in the world. Unveiled on Paul Bunyan's 125th birthday in 1959, the statue is a well-known civic icon and a popular attraction for visitors.
Created by local artist J. Normand Martin, the statue features a fiberglass-over-metal frame that is hurricane-proofed to withstand strong winds. Over the years, the statue has been adorned with various accessories, including a giant fez and a huge bandana. It is set back in Bass Park, allowing visitors to capture the entire statue in their photos without obstructing traffic. The statue's pedestal also houses a time capsule, which is scheduled to be opened on Bangor's 250th birthday.

It's a giant statue of Paul Bunyan. Look up. Snap pic. Maybe picnic on the grass beside him? It will take you longer to walk there from where ever you park than the amount of time you'll spend there.

Not much to say about the statute except that it's there and it's huge. The statue is in the "center" of town in front of the concert arena. This is a been there/done that thing. Lasted about 15...
