Eastern Maine Healthcare is an organized regional healthcare system serving all of central, eastern and northern Maine. In 1982, leaders of the board of trustees for Eastern Maine Medical Center realized the future of health care in Maine would not be focused on single hospitals, regardless of their size and depth of services. As a result, Eastern Maine Healthcare was created as a means of developing a network of health care facilities and services that would offer equal access to quality care, while taking advantage of the efficiencies that come from working together. The network currently consists of Acadia Hospital, Bangor, Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle, Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Blue Hill, Charles A. Dean Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home, Greenville, Eastern Maine Medical Center, Inland Hospital, Waterville and Sebasticook Valley Hospital.
