Midcoast Maine Community Action

Independence Association, located in Brunswick, Maine, assists adults and children with disabilities by providing educational and social services and programs. The center offers a variety of services that include case management, in-home support, referrals and community support services. Its other services include respite, family and individual therapies, medical assistance, and parent, employment and educational support services. The center also provides case management services that include support to people of ages between 3 and 20 suffering with mental retardation and autism. It offers rehabilitative services, which fosters assistance in areas of socialization, communication, independent living skills and behavior management. The center provides employment assistance that includes job shadowing and development, resume preparation, interview skills training, on-site job training, and work trials and assessments. Additionally, it offers advocacy, networking, and resource development support to parents.
