Medomak Veterinary Service

Medomak Veterinary Services was founded in 1988 by Dr. Laurie Howarth. The practice was begun in order to provide veterinary care for small animals and to provide farm call care for horses, sheep, and goats. At that time the practice was largely run out of two small rooms in the back of Dr. Howarth's home. In 1991 the large animal part of the practice was discontinued in order to concentrate on the growing number of small animal patients and their owners. The practice grew steadily by word of mouth, slowly outgrowing the two clinic rooms and encroaching on Dr. Howarth's living space; a closet was built in the basement for a dark room, with shelves filling up the remaining space and overflowing into the barn in order to hold supplies. The work load and emergency coverage became too much for one veterinarian and the space too small to add any more staff. Construction on our new clinic began in June of 2001 and we moved into our new facility on March 1, 2002. We added our second associate in August of the same year. Through the years Medomak Veterinary Services has continued its tradition of providing the best, most compassionate veterinary care possible. We look forward to continuing this tradition with the help of a dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled staff. We realize that everyone's time is valuable. In order to minimize waiting time we schedule time with doctors and/or technicians by appointment only. If you wish to request a specific doctor please do so when scheduling the appointment. The clinic is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am to 5pm, Tuesday from 8am to 7pm, Thursdays 8am to 12pm and 2pm to 7pm, and Saturday from 8am to 12pm. If an appointment must be canceled we would appreciate 24 hours notice. We expect that services will be paid for as they are rendered. We do not routinely bill. One of our receptionists will be happy to provide you with an itemized estimate. We accept cash, checks, Visa, and MasterCard and debit cards. We can also provide you with information on pet insurance if desired.
