Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation
Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation, founded in 1982, is the first adaptive ski organization in Maine, established by Dr. Omar Chip Crothers and Leslie B. Otten. Starting with just eight participants and a small team, it has since expanded to serve over 400 participants annually across multiple winter and summer sports.
With a strong focus on enhancing self-confidence and physical well-being, Maine Adaptive offers a variety of programs including alpine skiing, snowboarding, cycling, and golf, alongside a growing pickleball initiative. The organization operates from its own slope-side facility at Sunday River and relies on the dedication of over 450 volunteers to support its mission.
