Kennebunk Plains Wildlife Management Area, located in Kennebunk, ME, is a 2,000-acre preserve managed by The Nature Conservancy. Formerly blueberry barrens, this expansive landscape is home to a diverse range of unique and rare species, including the largest flock of endangered Grasshopper Sparrows in Maine and the rare Black Racer Snake. This was not a planned destination. In fact I didn't even know it existed. We were driving by and saw all of the beautiful purple flowers (Northern Blazing Star). We just had to stop. Walked...
