Credited as the pioneer of casual dining, Independent Owners Cooperative is a consortium of franchise owners who collectively operate the Ground Round Grill & Bar chain of restaurants. The company has more than 70 locations throughout 19 United States. Each restaurant offers traditional fare, including appetizers, soups, salads, steaks, ribs, chicken, pasta, seafood, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, fajitas, desserts and a variety of beverages such as beers, wines, champagnes, smoothies, lemonades, sodas, teas, coffees and mixed alcoholic drinks. The first Ground Round Grill & Bar opened in 1969. Nation s Restaurant News awarded Independent Owners Cooperative its 2005 Franchise Excellence Award for Leadership in Franchise Management.
