Established in 1940, Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative is one of the leading nonprofit consumer owned electric utilities serving Maine. The company provides low-cost energy solutions to customers through application of technology and capital. It caters to the needs of over 28,000 people through more than 1700 miles of electric lines. Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative serves throughout parts of Aroostook, Penobscot and Washington Counties on Maine's Eastern Border with Canada. In 1976, Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative acquired electrical assets of Woodland Water and Electric.
