Superb hiking to all levels, mountain biking and rock climbing, kayaking or chauffeured tours of the park and up to the top of Cadillac Mountain. Sommes Sound, which offers spectacular scenery and deep water cruising, is a wonderful lunch or afternoon sunset cruise destination. Mount Desert Island and numerous surrounding islands ensure flat water and scenery that is ideal for any sail or powerboat guest to feel comfortable. Southwest Harbor is an active waterfront community, steeped in traditional boat builders along the shores ; Hinkley Yachts, Morris Yachts, Ellis Boats, Wilbur Yachts and Ralf Stanley traditional Lobster yachts. Southwest Harbor village is a short walk from the marina and offers a rich community feel. Fabulous dining options from lobster rolls to fine dining, Alen and Sons Jewelers along with The Mermaid and The Sandcastle and Under dogwood tree and Children's Gifts stores make nice small town shopping options. A truly quaint Library and a great hardware store, along with a pharmacy and post office make southwest a real working village.
