CHCS, also known as Community Health and Counseling Services, was founded in 1883 when a group of churchwomen organized Associated Charities, a coalition of church and voluntary charitable organizations. It has various departments, such as children s services, home health and adult mental health services. Its children's services division offers community-based residential and outpatient programs serving children and their families in need of intensive help with emotional and behavioral challenges. Its adult mental health services department provides a wide range of services to adults with mental illnesses.
