Northern Maine General is one of the oldest providers of social services in the United States. A nonprofit organization, it has been operational for more than 100 years. Located in Eagle Lake, Maine, the organization is a part of Little Franciscan Sisters of Mary. It serves more than 20,000 individuals throughout northern and central Aroostook County in Maine. Northern Maine General works with at-risk children and adolescents, developmentally disabled adults, the elderly, ill, and displaced youth. The organization offers a wide range of social services, such as inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, children s mental health and habilitation services, and adult case and medication management. It also provides youth group home programs, adult foster care, vocational training, supportive employment opportunities, skilled nursing facilities, home health aides and boarding home care.
