The Iberia Parish Sheriff s Office is a law enforcement agency that provides services for protecting the lives and properties of citizens in the parish. It employs more than 300 trained deputies and civil volunteers. The office offers minor roadside assistance, street patrol, crime investigation and specialized services. The Iberia Parish Sheriff s Office maintains various divisions, including water patrol, air support, investigation, jail operations, law enforcement, civil and community services. In addition, the sheriff s office operates a communications center that receives calls for service and dispatches assistance for the sheriff and fire departments, as well as ambulance services. The Iberia Parish Sheriff s Office is located in New Iberia, La.

The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for the protection and safety of lives and properties in the parish. The division is a part of Ascension Parish Sheriffs Office, which is operated by the government of Ascension Parish in Louisiana. It specializes in the investigation of criminal and violent activities. The division is also known as CID and offers peace preservation and crime prevention services. The Criminal Investigation Division conducts the polygraph examinations of police applicants. The division is also responsible for the storage of evidences. The Criminal Investigation Division maintains criminal intelligence files. In addition, the division provides crime scene processing services.

Assumption Police Jury, an elected legislative body of Assumption Parish, serves its community. Located in Napoleonville, La., the jury addresses various issues, including approvals for culvert repairs and installations, approval for catch basin, waterworks projects, updating grants, public hearings, licenses, including liquor license and other businesses. Additionally, it deals with various committees, including drainage, insurance, road and bridge, finance, federal programs, economic development and engineering. Assumption Police Jury is composed of nine elected members representing the nine wards of the parish.
