Site 61 Hostel is a unique hostel, offering a more mellow alternative to the Party Hostel. There are a mix of private rooms and dorm rooms. The emphasis is on cleanliness and sustainability, while remaining budget-friendly. You will find free Wifi, a friendly staff, cameras that monitor the public areas, complimentary coffee and tea, and continental breakfast on weekends. The building was built about 1912 as a family residence and a nine-room/one bath rooming house. It is located on Hwy 61, which was the main highway into New Orleans, before the Interstate highway system. The building was designated Historic in 2014. Then it was redesigned and renovated to add modern conveniences, such as air conditioning and more bathrooms, while preserving many early-20th century features. There are great restaurants nearby, free street parking, and convenient public transportation.

The hostel was in a great location, close to the bus stop and streetcar stop, maybe 15 minutes by either one to the French Quarter! Beds were comfy and the bathrooms were pretty clean. Think dorm...
