Exactly what I hoped for. Great southern, comfort food. I believe they had some healthier options on there (by healthy, not as heavy) but that's not what I was looking for. Would recommend.

Characterized as New Orleans' most unusual bar, the Rivershack Tavern is known to have been, at various times, a grocery store, a bar, a restaurant, a package liquor store, and a pharmacy. The "shack" was thrust into the national spotlight when old asbestos shingles were removed from the sides of the 100-year-old building. Underneath, miraculously preserved for over half of a century, were large, vibrantly colored, hand-painted advertisements from the 1940s in virtual mint condition!

I've always been a fan of this place. Their fried alligator bites and fried mushrooms for appetizers are great and the tuna sandwich is one of my favorites. There's a lot of variety on the menu...

Really good bar food. Specials offered are a deal. Had their tacos at the bar. This is a comfortable hangout kind of place. Music on the weekends.
