Popaletas Michoacan began its journey in 1984 when Miguel Angel Barragan moved from Santa Ines Michoacan to Guadalajara Jalisco, where he opened his first paleteria in partnership with family. After relocating to the United States in pursuit of new opportunities, he launched the first Popaletas store in Gonzales, Louisiana, in 2017, quickly becoming a favorite ice cream destination in the state.
Following the success of the Gonzales location and with the support of his family, Barragan expanded Popaletas with a second Baton Rouge store in 2018 and a further location in January 2022. Renowned for its artisanal ice cream and popsicles crafted from natural fruits and real ingredients, Popaletas Michoacan prides itself on delivering fresh and high-quality treats to its dedicated clientele.

The food here is amazing. Highly recommend. I had my exchange students with me and they loved it. They tried some of every dessert and they were wonderful.
